Paper Crafting Workshop at Love Our Turtle initiative by IKHTIAR Foundation and Penang Art District

Image
I had the joy of conducting a Paper Cutting Ornament Workshop at Penang Town Hall on August 16, 2025, as part of the Love Our Turtle initiative by IKHTIAR Foundation and Penang Art District. Huge thanks to Penang Art District for inviting me to be part of this meaningful celebration of creativity and conservation. Using paper—a biodegradable and gentle material—we explored the art of modular paper craft, creating intricate 3D ornaments with nothing left behind to harm our environment. It was a beautiful reminder that art can be both expressive and eco-conscious. To all the participants who joined me: thank you for bringing your energy, curiosity, and creativity. Your enthusiasm turned simple sheets of paper into something truly magical.

Hands-On Wonder: Sharing Origami at George Town Festival's Bedtime Stories

Image
Thank you, George Town Festival, for welcoming kh.art.craft into the magical world of Bedtime Stories! On August 9th, Taman Kejiranan Desa Mawar came alive with imagination, laughter, and creativity—and we were honored to be part of it. Sharing the art of origami with such an enthusiastic crowd, from curious little hands to grown-up paper-folding pros, was a true joy. Watching families gather around, fold by fold, discovering how a simple piece of paper could become a crane, a flower, or a moment of connection—that’s the kind of magic we live for. We’re deeply grateful for the opportunity to bring hands-on fun to your doorstep and to be part of a festival that celebrates storytelling, play, and community. Here's to more inspiring collaborations and more nights filled with wonder.

Kecik-Kecik 2025 Group Show at Hin Bus Depot

I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to participate in the Kecik-Kecik Group Show at Hin Bus Depot, where two of my origami artworks were exhibited from May 30, 2025 until June 2nd, 2025. It was a meaningful experience to share my work in a space that celebrates creativity and community, and I deeply appreciate Penang Art District, Hin Bus Depot, and Arteesan for making it possible. The first piece I showcased was Tecoma, inspired by the fleeting yet breathtaking bloom of Tecoma flowers in Malaysia. Much like the Sakura in Japan, these blossoms transform their surroundings in spring, offering a moment of quiet beauty. I wanted to capture that essence through modular origami—120 folded units arranged in a tight, twisting formation that echoes the way Tecoma appears from a distance. No glue was used, only the precision and patience of paper folds holding the structure together. The second piece, Yoshimura, explores one of origami’s fundamental tessellations. Though subtle at fir...

Kusudama Origami Art Exhibition and Workshop at Jetty35

Image
I had the joy of presenting my Kusudama Origami Art Exhibition at Jetty35. It was a deeply personal exploration of how tradition and modernity can coexist—not in conflict, but in harmony. The bamboo structure at the heart of the installation symbolized resilience and integrity, while the vibrant red ropes and kusudama origami pieces represented the emotional threads that connect us. Through this work, I hoped to evoke love, understanding, and the quiet strength found in human relationships. Alongside the exhibition, I hosted a hands-on origami workshop where participants crafted modular coin box ornaments. Watching people of all ages and skill levels fold, create, and connect through paper was incredibly moving. Origami, to me, is more than technique—it’s a shared experience, a way of building something meaningful together. Seeing others leave with their own handmade keepsakes reminded me why I do this: to inspire, to connect, and to celebrate the beauty of transformation.
